You encounter different types of dragons all the time, and it can be confusing to know exactly what each of them is weak for. They all have different abilities, so going in with whatever weapon you have is an option if you don't know what they're going to do.
Dragons in Elden Ring are weak to physical damage. There are many dragons that are weak to fire, lightning, and other elements like bleeding. Although it's probably easiest to use direct physical weapons. Magic works great with some of the dragons, so don't worry if you have a caster build.

What are all boss dragons weak against?
It entirely depends on the dragon you're fighting, but for the most part physical damage is probably your best bet. There are several that have weaknesses to certain elements, but we're going to go through each dragon in this article and let you know what each dragon is weak against. There are many dragons in the game so we will try to cover them all.
Here are all the boss dragons in the game, where to find them and what they are weak against:
Agheel Flying Dragon
Location:Found in Limgrave auf dem Lake next to the First Step Site of Grace.
This dragon is probably the first you will encounter. All you have to do for it to appear is walk towards the enemies surrounded by the huge bonfire. It will fall from the sky and you will be able to fight it.The only thing this dragon is weak against is physical damage.It's very strong against all elementals, so be careful if you have an elemental weapon.
It's one of the easiest dragons in the game, so you shouldn't have too many problems. We don't recommend fighting him as soon as you start a new character, but it is possible. Just watch out for his fire attacks and you should be good.
Greyll Flying Dragon
Location:Encontrado en Caelidon o Farum Greatbridge.
This dragon is basically the same as Agheel but in a different realm.The only thing this dragon is weak against is physical damage.It's a tougher fight because he has a lot more health and you start the fight on a bridge. The space you can get on the bridge is extremely small, so try to lure him into a more open area.
Just make sure you don't drag it too far as it will disappear and reappear on the bridge. Magic works on these 2 dragons, so don't worry if your spells don't do any damage. If you take something like Rock Sling, it works great against dragons.
Elder Dragon Greyll
Location:Found in the northeast region of the Caelid surrounded by lesser dragons.
This dragon is one of the strangest of all because it is the largest living dragon in the entire game. It's so big that if you try to hit it anywhere other than the head area, it won't respond. The only downside is that it takes a long time to heal. You'll get 80,000 runes for beating him, so it's worth doing early for several free levels.
This dragon is not really weak at all., then use whatever you have to beat him to death. It's honestly the best way to get free runes early in the game, so take advantage of it when you can. He won't fight back if you punch anywhere behind him, so you can use any elemental fat to drain his health.
Magma Wyrm/Makar/Theodorix
Location:Makar is the boss of the ruined cliff. Theodorix is north of Frozen Lake in Albinauric's Rise. There are 3 more: one at Volcano Manor, one near Seethwater Terminus in the lava lake on the mountain. Gelmir, and the last one is in the Gael Tunnel in Caelid.
There are 5 versions of Magma Wyrm in total and every time you fight the fight is exactly the same. The only thing that differs from each battle is the arena you fight in. They're one of the weirder dragons in the game because they'll rise up on their hind legs mid-fight and fight you with a sword.
These dragons, like most other dragons, are vulnerable to physical damage., and are highly resistant to fire. You may not even see one of these dragons if you proceed in a certain way in the story or avoid their areas. They're not difficult, but they're annoying to fight.
decadent Exzykes
Location:Found in Caelid, east of Caelid Highway South.
This is the first dragon weak to almost everything.He is weakest at shooting, so if you have a firearm, take advantage of the weakness and use it. You have to be careful with his breath attack because he will damage you. If you suffer from rot, your health will quickly deplete.
Try to get under him and hit his legs as this will allow you to stay away from his breath attacks. If you feel like you need to move, just run away and come back after you've recovered. Until you rest in the place of grace your health will be as you left it.
borealis, the frozen mist
Location:It's on the giant mountain, on the frozen lake in the northeast of the map.
You won't find this dragon until the end of the game due to its location. He has one of the most annoying breath attacks, a Frostbite breath attack. Luckily, there's a Lost Site of Mercy nearby, so if you die you can easily return to it.It's only really weak against physical damage., so make sure you have a strong weapon.
He's extremely strong against Frost weapons, so make sure you don't use your Frost weapons against him. He moves around a lot, so fighting this dragon on his horse could be an advantage. You have to be really good at combat on horseback so that you can easily switch from one side to the other.
Emerald dragon Glinstone
Location:Found in Liurnia de los Lagos Oeste by Ray Lucaria's Academy.
There are quite a few magic dragons in the game and this is one of them. They are covered in Glinstone and this particular dragon guards the key needed to enter the academy. This is probably your second dragon encounter in the game and this one is unique due to its blue fire.It's not an easy fight as he's only weak against heavier blunt weapons.
Because it's basically glass, it's harder to hit with other weapons like swords or even daggers. It's also very strong against Magic, sorry Magic users. You don't have to fight him right away, but he's definitely a decent challenge when you finally meet him for the first time.
Glinstone-Drachenkitze
Location:First found while walking through the Três Irmãs area. After dealing enough damage, he teleports to Manus Celes Cathedral where he can be killed.
This is another Glinstone dragon, but it's a lot harder than the last one. He has almost double the health and the damage on this dragon is insane. It also has a bunch of new attacks that you can easily hit if you're not careful.It's also only weak for heavier blunt weapons because it's a Glinstone dragon.
Remember that the first time you encounter this dragon, it will fly with half its health. Don't expect to hit him the first time, so don't waste time fighting him because he'll just fly away. Try to defeat him with your heaviest weapon, or just use the church as cover to slowly deplete his health.
Lichdrache Fortissax
Location:Found deep in the Deep Root after following Fia's quest line.
This is one of the few major dragon bosses, as you must defeat it in order to progress to any of the endings throughout the game. It's not easy to get there, but it's definitely a fight not to be missed. Many people who struggle with this may wonder what their weakness is.It is weak against physical damage.. Yes, like every other dragon before him.
Most of the dragons in the game don't have any elemental weaknesses, and if they did it would make most of them relatively easy. Giving them very few weaknesses makes them a tougher challenge, and we wouldn't have it any other way. You don't have to fight dragons in the game, but they are there for an extra challenge.
Drachenlord Placidusax
Location:Found in an empty graveyard at the end of Crumbling Farum Azula.
This is by far the toughest dragon fight in the game. It has the coolest boss arena of almost anything in the game except for the final boss.He's weak to fire and lightning, which is weird because he's the most powerful dragon in the game.This makes the fight a bit easier since it's one of the rarer dragon fights.
It disappears, flies and spreads lightning everywhere. It's definitely a tough fight, but if you end up fighting him, knocking him down and defeating him will be extremely satisfying. You get a souvenir when you defeat it, making it the only dragon besides Forissax to get one.
What are non-boss dragons weak at?
There are dragons that aren't bosses, but are actually very rare. There are times, like near Elder Dragon Greyll, that there's a bunch of random non-boss dragons wandering around. After defeating the giant dragon, they all disappear and you get 5 dragon hearts from each one. You don't even have to defeat them to get the hearts.
The second area is near Glinstone Dragon Adula. After you defeat it, there will be a bunch of crystal dragons west of the church. These are much more difficult because they require blunt weapons to do a lot of damage, but these dragons don't have a lot of health. There aren't many other instances of random dragons, but these two really are the only big twos we know of.
What do you get for defeating dragons?
After defeating a dragon, dragon hearts and runes will drop on you.Depending on the dragon you defeat, they can also give you memories of higher level dragon battles. These dragon hearts are very important if you want to use dragon spells and charms in your build. There are actually quite a few items that you can obtain from Dragon Hearts.
You must exchange the hearts for these items at an Altar of Communion of Dragons. There are 2 locations: the Church of the Communion of the Dragon in Limgrave and the Cathedral of the Communion of the Dragon in Caelid. Both have altars, and each dragon you defeat will replenish those altars with new items.
